what i was saying is the ets seemed to cause most of the problems the loco themselves work that too look at them they were not in to bad condition thats what i have read. iam not sure about the network rail ones i know they did some trails pulling a class 350 a while back
A 10 miles per hour difference in top speed and the cost of running a diesel locomotive under the wires should be reason enough. Plus I'm not sure the 57s are fitted to run with DVTs?

I can confirm that 57/3s are NOT fitted to work with DVTs, plus compared to a 90 their acceleration is alot worse and they can't go above 95, where a 90 can reach 110 without an issue. Timings are tight enough with a 90 as it is, it would be dreadful with a 57.
