what i was saying is the ets seemed to cause most of the problems the loco themselves work that too look at them they were not in to bad condition thats what i have read. iam not sure about the network rail ones i know they did some trails pulling a class 350 a while back

what?????

I have often wondered if some of the faults might not be down to a lack of use. I do wonder what the point of the conversion work was

I could never understand why they kept hiring in 90's when they had all the 57's sat there

A 10 miles per hour difference in top speed and the cost of running a diesel locomotive under the wires should be reason enough. Plus I'm not sure the 57s are fitted to run with DVTs?

I can confirm that 57/3s are NOT fitted to work with DVTs, plus compared to a 90 their acceleration is alot worse and they can't go above 95, where a 90 can reach 110 without an issue. Timings are tight enough with a 90 as it is, it would be dreadful with a 57.
