Hi there, I was after a bit of advice.... I have booked Virgin advance tickets from Preston to Watford for 20th May for around 8quid. At the time of booking, the week after (W/C 25th MAy) was nt available for advance purchase so I could nt book the return.

I have been checking constantly to see if they have gone on sale and they still have nt for that week despite AP tickets now being on sale into June.

Does anyone have any inside info whether AP tickets will be available at some point for w/c 25th May. If not then it's going to be bloody expensive for me to get back home!!!

Thanks

That week you probably know is Bank Holiday weekend.

There are a number of possibilities of why the Advance tickets haven't been released.

Firstly and most likely is that Network Rail do a lot of their large scale engineering works over the holiday periods and this usually takes quite large amount of planning for Network Rail, consequently they may not have confirmed their schedule to Virgin yet, meaning they cannot release their Advance tickets.

Another is that Virgin are not going to restrict Advance ticket sales over this period, forcing the public to purchase walk-up fares at a higher rate, knowing many people will want to travel regardless of the higher price.

I would still keep checking though and if not you can just purchase the walk-up fare anyway so you have nothing to lose.

WCML closed for the Bank Holiday - won't be any advances I'd imagine.
Suggest AP to Birmingham then Chiltern to London or wherever you can get across to Watford from.

If you are not in a hurry LM have advance tickets from Watford - Crewe for £7 that week.
I think that Stoke Staion is being done that week so there are changes to Virgin services to Manchester & the north.
