I've been looking for Virgin West Coast Advance tickets, to book for 28th Dec between Preston and Euston, and there are absolutely no advance tickets, for any trains on that date (I've been looking every single morning, every day for 3 weeks, just in case the normal 12 week advance was changed leading up to Christmas). Does anyone know if there is a black-out period over Christmas, where no advance tickets are offered, or will advance tickets come on sale later? It's now 11 weeks to Christmas, and I was hoping to lock down a cheaper ticket, than just the standard priced off-peaks etc.
I know there's some fairly major level of shutdown at Euston station, over the long Christmas weekend itself, but I wondered if perhaps this was affecting any decisions to release advance tickets during that time period.
