Virgin Advance ticket restrictions during snow

I'm on the 1900 train out of Euston this evening with an Advance 1st - all on the hour trains have now been cancelled. Have Virgin issued easements to allow passengers with Advance tickets to travel on earlier trains? I'm planning to get to the station earlier to try and avoid the 1920, which even on normal days has people practically sitting on the roof.

You must travel on the first service before your cancelled service or the next service after your cancelled service.

That's what Virgin are saying as to Advanced tickets if your train is cancelled

when I last had Virgin cancel a service, with an advance ticket, I was told to travel on the previous service. (as I was at the station in plenty of time for it).

On Sunday staff were telling people that all restrictions had been lifted and no one was having problems on the trains I caught.

Apparently you left at 1914. You just missed the 1840 which left at 1908, although you won the race to Manchester by 5 minutes. Hope it wasn't too unbearably crowded, I guess the one you let go was probably totally wedged as there was an hour gap before that! ouch! The 1920 had a better run, leaving 1937 and was at Manchester only 10 mins after your train.

there or there abouts. i posted that at 1923 from the train's wifi so it probably took 5 or so minutes to clear the tunnels and get signal out of euston. i was going to stoke so the 1840 was no use to me. 1820 was pretty empty actually as the manchester crowd all got on the delayed 1840. was a good 90 mins late by the time it arrived at stoke.
