Vintage Trains - Flying Scotsman?

On Vintage's website, they put a journey up for Flying Scotsman, in February Half Term, over 3 days, 5 trips a day. It was under the protected status and tickets weren't available. Now it's gone? What's happening with it?

We are delighted to welcome the legendary to Tyseley next year and to offer two very special travel experiences for you to choose from.

On Valentine’s Day, will haul three Valentine’s Shakespeare Expresses from Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon and return, a two hour express train experience, with the option of either breakfast, afternoon tea or a three course evening dinner in our authentic luxury Pullman cars or seating in our Standard Class carriages with large picture windows by every seat.

During Half Term, Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th, will haul five one hour train ride experiences daily, together with a unique opportunity for you and your family to take unforgettable selfies by the locomotive at Moor Street station before or after your journey.

Tickets are strictly limited and are available on a ‘first come first served basis’ only by booking on our website vintagetrains.co.uk. Bookings open on vintagetrains.co.uk at 1pm 19th December 2025.

They normally shuttle down to Dorridge or Whitlock’s End, and then come back, for the hour long trips.

Yes that would be my assumption too running in a similar path to the Polar Express.

Probably, to stop any misbehaviour, and any tresspassing, from the odd few, that spoil it, for the rest of those who behave and respect others.

I'm not on it, but if you look at your original confirmation email from when you booked, there should be a "View Your Tickets" link. If you click on that, does the ticket show your coach/table number? If not, I would suggest calling their office. Worst case scenario, just turn up at Moor St tomorrow armed with your order confirmation email and that ticket link I mentioned. One of the stewards will have your name on their seating plan somewhere and should be able to direct you.

I contacted them this morning and they said just be patient whilst they sort out for tomorrow. They only got the times from Network Rail late last night. Hopefully some point this afternoon/this evening. Hopefully before tomorrow anyway.

Yeah, I’ll keep watching, I’m heading out to film it tomorrow.

I think Stratford is on weekends, I heard that it’s Dorridge for the midweek runs. However, there was a landslip near Dorridge this week so who knows…

Looks like it's similar to the Polar Express where you go out to Dorridge, sit around for a bit then go back to Birmingham. Does Flying Scotsman run around at Dorridge considering there is time for that or is it a push pull situation like the Polar Express?

My footage from today. Extremely cold, but worth it Scotsman looked stunning. Unfortunately, there was a bit of congestion on the line so some slow running. I was hoping for the 37, but sensibly they put the 47 on for carriage heating purposes.

nature of the paths unfortunately in that each time you follow an all stations WMT train . even with polar, workings often is put out from Dorridge a little early which makes it worse as the opportunity for the unit to be clearing Olton (and then at least allowing an unchecked run) is lost . the 1:10 yesterday was checked as early as Widney Manor . Still nice to see 60103 on the doorstep

It wouldn't fit in the platform if it did. At the expense of a fare carrying coach, I think there is negligible risk of needing it on the short runs.
