Vintage buses to run pre-deregulation services

On Sunday 11th September 5 pre-deregulation bus routes in Liverpool will be operated by vintage buses:

The fact that it is free to use and that they serve the Pier Head should make it a worthwhile experiance. I like the idea of the 77A service that goes from inside the grounds of Speke Hall. This could attract National Trust members.

Having the event on a Sunday should help to attract those who normally work during the week.

It's happening during Heritage Open Weekend. Lots of places that aren't normally open to the public will be open to them that weekend, for instance, the Greek Orthodox church in Liverpool is open to the public, while there are public tours of the Liver Building that weekend.

I'm going to this event, it's a good day out, most of the routes are centred on Liverpool South Parkway-City Centre. The Pier Head has changed so much since the old Bus Station closed in the early 90s, some of the busses will stop on Mann Island as well.

It's been moved from it's traditional day[3rd Sunday in September]as the Liverpool Marathon is normally run then, with disruption in the City Centre.

BTW theres an heritage bus event on Sunday at Heaton Park in Manchester.
