Vintage bus question. When did they change the colour?

And why did they change the colour?
Pre-privatisation - both buses carrying Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport insignia. I only remember the blue.
(My favourite type of Grimsby bus was the AEC Bridgemaster which had a full width rear facing padded bench seat immediately behind the half cab.
NOTE: I did ask this question on a bus forum but got no responses

I remember the bright orange livery with parrot logo so that was post 1990.

My mum remembers the 45 Cleethorpes to Immingham service being joint worked with rear loaders in the 1970s.

can only recall the latter lvery as below from visits to Grimsby and Cleethorpes in the 80's - below link to a 1986 pic.
I think it may have had something to do with local government re-orgnaisation in 1974 when many localities changed liveries to reflect a change in councils and boundaries etc.

I don't know exactly why they changed the livery, but wikipedia does have reference to it here. Regarding Grimsby Corporation and Cleethorpes Council.

In 1957 both councils merged their bus companies to form Grimsby-Cleethorpes Transport, run by a joint committee. The crimson/cream livery of Grimsby and the blue/grey colours of Cleethorpes were replaced with the blue and cream of the new company. The Cleethorpes depot at Pelham Road was closed down, the buses and staff moving to the Grimsby depot in Victoria Street.

1981 saw GCT change its livery to caramel and cream.

In 1987 the fleet colours were changed again, to orange and white.

Thanks High Dyke. I thought the blue and cream was rather distinctive. Definitely better than what replaced it.

Just to add an element of daftness - some GCT Fleetlines went second hand to Fylde Borough in the years shortly after deregulation when Fylde were expanding to compete with Blackpool Transport.

They entered Fylde service in GCT caramel / cream livery bearing "Blue Buses" and "this is a blue bus" vinyls...
