This is a great video. I don't know why TOC's don't make these anymore and give them to train crew to learn. They are very enjoyable to watch and would make route learning much more enjoyable not to mention a bit cheaper!

They do but there is nothing quite like getting out on the road and seeing for yourself aswell as getting a feel for handling a train over the route. The videos are good for a bit of memory jogging, looking at one particular area if it's a complex layout or reviewing shunting movements. It is a requirement when learning a route that Drivers travel over the route a set number of times (differs for each route depending on various factors such as length, complexity etc) in both directions and if possible handle a train under instruction.
