Good morning all

Hoping you can help. I would like to know how much a ticket is (single and return) from Vienna to Bratislava. I am off to Bratislava later in the year, and I am trying to work out how much more expensive it'll be to fly into Vienna and then use the train, compared to flying straight into Slovakia.

I have tried to find stuff online, but I am clearly not looking in the right places. Your help is greatly apprecaited.

Fare was €14 return (single €13.20!) - not sure if this is a day or period return - when I went from Vienna Südbahnhof (then a bit of a building site!) last year. Trains run to both Bratislava Petrzalka (south of the Danube - great if you like the worst of '60s style concrete architecture) and Bratislava Hlavná Stanica (Central Station, abbreviated to Hl., which is approx 1km north of Bratislava old town - Tram 13 from the station takes you there).

If you travel to Bratislava from Vienna by train, your ticket allows you free use of public transport within Bratislava on your day of arrival.

Not sure why the OBB website will not directly display ticket prices BUT see:

Interestingly I understand that Bratislava to Vienna is is a period return, valid one month, and cheaper (€11) - Slovak Govt subsidies I was told! - but such a ticket does NOT involve free travel on Vienna local transport, which would cost about another €4-5!!!!!

One further thought, though this may be pushing it.....

Is the S-bahn service from Vienna airport to central Vienna included within "all ÖBB routes in Vienna " and thus the Vienna to Bratislava ticket coverage??? I seriously doubt that the Airtrain is!!!

Any particular reason the OP wants to fly via Vienna? The airport in Bratislava is pleasant, near the centre and there is a good bus service (was no 61) and taxis are not dear as long as you establish the price before you get in.
