Victoria Underground Emergency last night?

Hi All

Was on a bus at Victoria bus station last night between 18 -19 00hrs and at one entrance to the tube (didn't see any others) the shutters were closed and the 'Emergency Do not Enter' sign was flashing.

Does any one have any idea what happened?

Sometimes they do that if the station is too crowded and it usualy is the case during peak time at victoria tube station.

Theres changes to the station access at Victoria at peak times now on weekdays because of station work. Some entrances are entrance/exit only.

Are you sure it was the 'Emergency Do Not Enter Signs', rather than just 'Do Not Enter'?

It would have been "Emergency Do Not Enter" as there is no control over what is displayed on them, ("ED-NE" boards), just on or off.

Officially faulty brakes, but it sounds more like a traction motor had a flashover to me?

Was thought to have been a mainline burst.

Victoria LU's EDNE boards can display just Do Not Enter with white flashing lights and klaxon and without the Emergency.

As others have suspected, but just to confirm, there was no emergency there. It was probably therefore just because of crowding.

Thanks for all the responses - I am 100pc certain that the board was displaying Emergency.

Over crowding may just be the answer cause the shutters were closed... if it was an emergency then surely they would want all out?!
