You would use the Underground or DLR instead, it's not like they are stopping you travelling, just asking you to adhere to the conditions you agreed to. That's not unreasonable imo.

If you were a conductor or a gate assistant at LST would you try to enforce this?

It's a totally irrelevant argument in my opinion seeing as how I can't imagine anyone ever attempting to enforce these rules.

I don't imagine many would enforce it over such a short distance (hence I suggested the op speak to the guard), but the theory could apply to far longer journeys in other parts of the country too, not that anyone seems to care about people doing their job properly anymore, atleast not when it suits them.
