Does anyone know where the engine is on these? The vehicle was 100% Low Floor, but did seem lumpy on one side in the leading segment with a large conduit running up to the roof? Are they really Front wheel drive or is there some unusual transmission going on?

Not overly strong myself on exact things re engines on buses, but it should be the same as the normal artics-which outnumber them by the 1000s (its just an extra non-engines segment added)-''standing'' on 1 side (left hand in right side driving) back of 1st segment. This may vary a little between older and newer types.
They run AFAIK in Hamburg/DE, Utrecht/NL, LUXemburg and possibly still in Bordeaux/FR.
The usual busfora should be more enlightened in this.
