I was travelling on the 6:35 train from Paisley Canal to Glasgow Central this morning and I noticed that the one side of the last 2 carriages have been completely covered in spray paint by some little git. It was a 380 set but i'm not sure which number. That'll be another set offline for maintenance to have the paint removed.
Not a happy bunny about this. Harsher punishment should be dished out if they can locate the vandal that did it.

Happens all the time and the scoundrels get away with it. Bit early for school holidays but there's often a spike in such activity then

I remember a case of an entire brand new Class 700 being "decorated" whilst berthed on the south coast a few years ago

380008 was seen in that condition on 8th December - If it's the same unit then I'm surprised that it's remained in service so long, as it really was quite extensively covered.

I think it is that one and some idiot posted 12 photos of it on Twitter this morning. ScotRail replied that it will be cleaned today.

It's a sign of modern society unfortunately. People just don't give a hoot for anyone or anything apart from themselves and their own belongings. They'd be the first to cry and moan if someone damaged something of theirs though.

Most far from that, look back to the mid 80's in London, New York etc, it was huge then and graffiti at this extent was a common occurrence - it will never stop.

In the early 1990s, I led a team that virtually stopped graffiti on the railways in the North West. It takes a dedicated team, proper evidence gathering and presentation to the court showing the true cost of their activity.

This resulted in a number of custodial sentences as well as heavy fines. Word got round and the culprits either stopped or went elsewhere. Sadly senior officers then disbanded the team with the inevitable result.

I agree there, it did phase out a little but it seems since the 00's its grown again, maybe an influence of European activity as its very big when you visit Spain, Italy etc??

That is the way to deal with the problem. Sensible, hard, evidence based work not silly suggestions of harsh penalties that will never be levied.

With all these cuts with policing I imagine this is not a priority when there is so much knife crime, car robberies on a heavy rise, there is just so much. I fear things will only get worse

They must have had a ladder as it's been done top to bottom. Was there not a guy killed earlier this year when he was electrocuted near Shields Depot while carrying a ladder to tag a train?

A pacer has graffiti on the side as well as a 195 + the 195 had a stone thrown at its window (both yesterday)
