Validity of connections when using advance the next day due to disruption

I have an advance Avanti and connecting services for Tuesday 19th July. Whitehaven to Northampton via Carlisle and Coventry.
Avanti are saying not to travel unless necessary and that tickets will be accepted the next day.
This is fine for the Avanti Carlisle to Coventry leg but is it still valid on the connections at either end?
My alternative is cancelling the ticket and rebooking for Wednesday.

As Avanti have advised you, you are fully entitled to follow their advice for the whole of your journey. You should explain this if asked, but I would be very surprised if the Northern conductor queried your explanation - I have no experience of WM so can't comment specifically, but the worst case scenario is that you have to complain and get a refund. Go for it.

Common sense, yes I know, sats they should be valid but....

As it happens I may now be shifting my journey to the Thursday so am going to claim a refund.

Northern have advised that they will be accepting unused tickets from Monday and Tuesday on Wednesday, so there would have been no issues. Unfortunately they won't take then on Thursday.

I have no experience of WM so can't comment specifically

Strongly doubt you’d have any problems on WM either, if you’re even checked.
