I'm heading to Manchester on Monday, with an off peak return ticket. The ticket has the Maltese cross and my itinerary takes me into London Bridge, underground to Euston, then the 0933 from Euston.

Is getting the Thameslink from London Bridge to St Pancras and then walking to Euston a valid route, or will I get grief trying to get out at St Pancras?

At around 8:30, I'd much prefer this route to trying to get on the Northern Line at London Bridge.

Thameslink is permitted but assuming your incoming train terminates at London Bridge, Canon Street or Charing Cross it's much quicker to get the Northern line to Victoria and it's not too bad even in the peak.

Thameslink is a perfectly valid cross London route with a Maltese cross
My Maltese Cross tickets were rejected by the Thameslink barriers at St Pancras on both entry and exit this week.

And by Liz Line barriers for that matter.

Possibly an encoding issue, or may have become demagnetised. It has no bearing on validity.

I knew I’d seen this thread and should have asked earlier but I had a Doncaster to Winchester single with a Maltese Cross yesterday.

I decided to walk to Warren Street as I had plenty of time but the ticket wouldn’t work the barrier and the TfL lady said “it’s not valid”.

Do you have to use the Maltese Cross to/from your connecting equivalent tube stations please.

However you can exit Warren Street on a ticket with a Maltese Cross - say if you'd done the reverse trip going from Waterloo to Warren Street. You couldn't then re-enter to continue your journey by Underground.
From the same source as above:
You are allowed to break your transfer journey once and leave the Underground, Elizabeth line or DLR at any intermediate station. For example, if you are travelling on the Underground between Victoria and Euston, you can exit at Oxford Circus. However, if you subsequently wish to continue your journey by Underground you will have to purchase another ticket or use pay as you go to travel to Euston.

Thanks both - I should have walked to Euston!

Coming back tomorrow and need to break at Leicester Square if I have time.

Given that TfL are trying to discourage use of Euston Underground station during the escalator works they really should introduce a temporary easement to allow tickets with the Maltese Cross to be accepted at Warren Street.

I was about to say something similar.

To be fair, the gatelines appear to not be set up correctly as they also denied my LU Zone 1 ticket the other day with the error code saying "Your London Underground ticket cannot be used to travel from this station".
