Does anyone have any particular thoughts about Valentines Day? Or any plans for tomorrow?

I'll be spending mine taking it really easy after I threw my back out eariler today. I don't have a boyfriend to get anything for on Valentine's Day, so I would've been letting it pass with a dismissive 'meh' in any case.

A sickeningly artificial, monumental waste of time in my eyes. Exists solely for the purposes of coercing people into wasting outrageous amounts of money to try and "prove" their love for someone on one day of the year. True love shouldn't have to rely on a 24-hour period of validation in February.

As for my plans, driving lesson number two in an attempt to salvage myself from the rapid-aging process that is commuting with South Western Railway and then submitting more delay repay claims than journeys.

it doesn't - but neither is buying someone a present to say so the problem many people make it out to be. If you don't want to take part don't. My partner & I dont buy each other cards or presents but if people want to then that is fine.

the boss wont allow money to be spent on valentines day as the menus is rubbish and the price goes up. We will go out at the weekend - although we had some time away in Plymouth and had a nice meal there

I think Valentine's day is great! Nothing at all wrong and plenty right about having a day that you can especially communicate your love for someone. Love is an amazing thing!

Yes, Valentine's day does get over-commercialised, but that happens to just about any special day or holiday. You don't have to pay attention to the commercialization. And yes, it can be hard for people who don't have partners. I think the last few years the culture around Valentine's day has become more sensitive to that.

FWIW I've been single every Valentine's day for several years, and I'll be spending it this year travelling to an interview (the date was not my choice). But the way I see it, just because you don't have something nice doesn't mean you can't feel happy for the people who do have whatever that nice thing is. So I'm happy to wish everyone a happy day, whether it's with a partner or not.
