Using my bus pass

Hello,

I have recently picked up my bus pass and intend on using it for long journeys. Example being, I am planning to go to great Yarmouth next week and do some coast walking. Could anybody point me in the right direction for websites that will help me plan a route using local buses only?

www.traveline.info, hit "More Options", and then "Choose Travel Mode". Untick the unrequired modes. Note some tram systems accept all ENCTS tickets, others only take local ones.

Traveline - and the third party sites that use its data, including bus times and Google, are not 100%. Google can also be a week or so behind Traveline.

In some areas, the local county / unitary council creates the data that goes in to Traveline, in some cases it goes in electronic form straight from bus operator in to a national data set without anyone else checking it.

With combination of cuts, staff shortages, and slow recovery from the tailspin of sudden service changes during Covid, some operators and local authorities are better than others at this sort of thing - there are operators out there who take getting their data right seriously, there are some who see it as a nuisance that gets in the way of them getting on with running buses. I've no personal knowledge of the Norfolk patch.

Getting sight of traditional timetables can be difficult - many councils and operators gave up putting anything on paper because covid and a lot haven't started up again. Some local authorities try and put timetables in traditional form on their websites, looks like Norfolk just have links to bus operator websites.

I'd say if you're going somewhere remote, and relying on an infrequent service, check operator's website after getting info from Traveline.

Yes - in particular https://bustimes.org/localities/great-yarmouth-norfolk will show all the routes operating in/out of Great Yarmouth.

A lot might depend on where you want to go - there is a First map for the town (https://www.firstbus.co.uk/sites/de...reat Yarmouth Network Map - from 01-05-22.pdf) showing routes to the west and south (into Suffolk). Suffolk does have a helpful website https://www.suffolkonboard.com/buses/timetables/ which includes an updates page.

The immediate north seems to be rather barren. The operator there is Sanders, they have a route map https://sanderscoaches.com/route-map, timetables and variable reviews.

Before I read the OP thoroughly I thought of Lynx (superb site but wrong side of the county); looking there it might be worth looking out for alerts - with the holiday time on us, there may be diversion due to carnivals and other summer events, particularly at the weekend.
