Using eVouchers

I recently received an eVoucher from Southern in settlement of a Delay Repay claim. The eVoucher has appeared in my Southern account. Am I restricted to using it to book tickets from that account, or can I use the eVoucher number to book tickets elsewhere? I just tried to use it to make a booking on Southwestern but it asked for a PIN which I don't think I was ever given.

An eVoucher is specific to the retailer it is issued for.

You should go back to them and ask for a Rail Travel Voucher instead if you want to book elsewhere. You can visit any Southern, Thameslink or Great Northern ticket office and have the Rail Travel Voucher exchanged for cash or a credit/debit card refund.

Or you can book the journey you want on the Southern website.

Which you can also do after claiming the money as cash!

It makes sense to pick an eVoucher when you're getting a benefit from it, like how OeBB in Austria add an extra 10% on top, but when it solely limits how you can use it then it seems like a bizarre choice.
