I was thinking about what use in the immediate term (once phase 1 is completed) the two HS2 spurs that would have connected to the original HS2 Y network.
Currently there is a spur ending east of handsacre connecting to phase 2a to Crewe and Manchester.
Also the spur ending next to the m42 near Tamworth which would have connected to phase 2b to the east midlands and Leeds.
Will they get built out to full spec and be glorified sidings? (Does the signalling allow for that?)
Or what other use could there be?
(Connection to the classic network)
