I Travel by EM Train, when I’m on th train I can’t find my ticket, but I have my little brother’s railcard with me, so I just Use it, then the staff noticed it’s not me. She wrote down my name and address, and take my brother’s card, and one of my old train card with my photo on and the staff said she will keep it as evidence. After I go back home I found my ticket which I have bought, but it’s too late to show. My question is 1.how long it take the letter send to me by EM train company? 2. What’s the letter for? 3. The house address which I left is the rent house for my college study, I will move out next week, what happen if I didn’t receive the letter before I move out? How they can find me after I move out? 4.Should I contact the EM now just in case if they can’t find me? And how to contact the correct EM department? 5. Do you think they will find my little brother and contact him directly, I don’t want anybody interrupt and hurt him. Thank you so much J

It appears that you gave an address that you knew it was unlikely that you would receive post at because you knew that you were about to leave it.
If your brothers Railcard was purchased online it is certain that there will be a record of his address and purchase details
As you are perhaps not too familiar with UK practice, and perhaps English is not yiur first language, two extra comments:
About 3. Redirecting mail can be arranged through the Royal Mail, but it costs money. Google helps.
About 5. You need to be able to explain why you had your "little brother" 's railcard with you as they might think you had "borrowed" it deliberately to save money.
I assume it was a 16-25 Railcard?

Hi yes, it’s a season tickets.
Thank you for your advice, I have no other address to give to the train company at moment. After I finish this term, I will stay in my friend’s place for a short time, then I will travel overseas. I really worry about they won’t contact me before I go, I really want to pay all Penalty fee before I go, because I don’t want to make trouble for my brother, he will still study in UK. I know it’s all my mistake, I feel guilty and very despress, I want to contact the correct department as soon as possible to plea of guilty and pay the fee. Could you help, what I should do? Thank you so much for your very kind suggestions, I will try the redirection service, do you know is any other way I can ask TOC email me the letter or I can call the TOC directly to speed up the process, 6 Months are too long for me. I really want to pay my penalty as soon as possible. Thanks again.
Because the holder is not intending on travelling on that particular day and might loan it to someone else
There is a very well used Appeal Court legal precedent (Browning & Floyd) that confirms this to be an offence contrary to S.5(3)(a) RRA[1889]
In simple language, if little brother allowed the OP to use the season ticket, he might end up being prosecuted as well.
Thank you so much for you and fare-cop’s professional answers. My brother didn’t know I use it by this stupid mistake, he is back home for summer holiday already. I just help him keep this until he is return. That’s why I feel so guilty. do you think I can contact the TOC by phone or email to plea to guilty if i didn’t receive the letter before I go.
