Honestly, I think this attitude is (partly) why so many perceive themselves as marginalised and disenfranchised. When they can't totally dominate the discussion and silence opposition they feel hard done by; the enfranchisement and inclusion of minority and oppressed groups has clearly trampled on this entitlement.

There are many, many legitimate grievances for those who have been hit by globalisation, but this attitude, and the way in which it throws groups that aren't like them under the bus, isn't one of them.

One thing he is definitely right about is how NATO is largely financed by the Americans.
All the countries who shelter under the NATO umbrella will be required to make massively bigger contributions both militarily and financially instead of letting America pay for 75% of the cost of defending Europe.
If Trump does take America out of NATO as he's said he might then Europe will have one hell of a wake-up call as they might actually have to look after themselves.

They do look after themselves. But those countries simply can't compete with the resources of Russia if Russia is minded to take them on. There are still only three global powers with vast resources in terms of man and firepower - the US, Russia and China. (And second tier like UK, France etc. that contribute but simply don't have the population at the same tier)
