Urmston - Wembley

Hi, I hope I'm posting in the correct place, I've used this site quite a lot for the jobs section, but not this bit of the forum.

I wondered if anybody had any advice for fares to Wembley from Urmston this Sunday? The price I've found is about £75 return Urmston-Warrington-Watford-Wembley, I'm guessing at this stage that's the best I'm going to get, but just thought I would check. Thanks.

So you need to get there before the 4pm kick off and return the same day?

Yes sorry, the earlier the better to get there, the one I was looking at was leaving Urmston at around 8 and getting to Wembley Central at about 12:30. The one coming back was approx 8pm arriving in Urmston at 11ish.

I don't mind which of the Wembley stations I arrive at and could live with only getting back as far as Manchester and getting a bus from there, the last being at 23:10.

I've probably left it too late at this stage, but the thought of the return coach journey is beginning to fill me with dread.

Urmston - Oxford is £69.20 SVR, and would be valid Wembley Central - Urmston

This is something of a loophole, which relies on the fact that Urmston - Oxford is routed LONDON. Buy Urmston - Wembley Central (£75.70) if you don't like loopholes.

You won't get much cheaper than that, unfortunately.

You could look at Urmston - Stoke or Crewe Off-Peak Day Return plus a London Midland Only Super Off-Peak Return onwards to London Euston. This would make it sub-£45 but would carry a considerable (but not unrealistic) journey time penalty.

Hi, following on from this I wondered if anybody had any advice for the same trip on Saturday 11 May? Again ideally departing from Urmston, but Manchester or within about 5 miles is fine, match kicks off at 5:30 so looking to arrive around lunch time. Will be returning the same day, although people have said the train back to Manchester is tight if the game goes to extra time etc.

I just had a quick look at some random stations for origin and Birmingham Snow Hill was £20 odd as a super return or something using High Wycombe? As you can probably tell, it's all a bit of a mystery to me.

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.
