Hi all, I need some urgent help here.....................

Where and what is the Grand Central Trains Depot called in the UK, or where are they mostly maintained...?

Address and number if possible...!!!

Why, I have been searching for ages, I came up on one of their trains this evening and I need to report a serious defect on the train.

I'm a rolling stock engineer with 28 years experiance incase anyone was wondering...

Many thanks........

Heaton depot, operated by Northern, although only certain types of maintenance is carried out there for GC. I don't have a number.

However, this does sound a bit suspicious. If the fault was that urgent why did you not report it to the guard or driver?

If it is genuinely serious, then it should be reported to the guard or driver ASAP. Someone who works on the railway should surely know that?

Indeed, if there is a fault it should be reported to the train crew immediately and if that is not possible it should be reported to the station staff when you get off.

If you reported it then there's no need to follow up like this. It wouldn't have to have been GC staff you told, you should have let any member of station staff know, then they would have contacted GC further.

Could you not have called Grand Central? Im sure they have posters etc with contact details on etc? I'm sure if it was a serious enough fault then the train crew might have known about it?? Maybe fault lights in the cab for the issue? I know on the trains i work you can tell when there's an issue with them

What was the nature of the fault? I too am a rolling stock engineer of many years experience - there's not enough of us on here.

The HQ of your company (if it's the same address as above) is very nice! Looks like a nice leafy residential area on google maps. Where do you fit the trains?! ;)

I simply was curious to find out weather 'traintechltd' was representing a company - I didn't want to sound daft and ask and to be told that there is no such company... so I googled 'traintech ltd' and the companies house page appeared - knowing that the company existed I asked a valid question asto if he was affiliated with said company.

I have further sent a PM to Ralph to explain the situation further.

Ah, ok. But there is no "digging" required when a Google search displays the required information before you need to click any link! :D

Hi transportphoto, could you please remove my address from your post. I don't have a problem with people searching on the tint for such details, as you say people are naturally inquisitive, but its a bit insensitive and unfair to post it without permission.

- sorry my second slightly off topic reply of the night -

@traintechltd - your username suggests that you are affiliated with a company called 'traintech ltd' - a company which is registered to an address in York:

http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/d41d1b015e996508f6bd8bb0983faf78/compdetails

Can you confirm your status with this company?

You seem to be ignoring peoples requests and making your own instead.

What was the fault?

Sorry to be stuburn but as the address is for a registered private limited company I have a right to place its registered address in my post. The address is already in the public domain so I can't see what the problem is.

I may reconsider my negative decision once you have told us what you think the problem was/is.

Thanks.

Zzzzzzzzzz. I can't believe anyone running a company connected to the industry has to come on here to ask such a question and also fails to know that defects should be sported to the traincrew and now continues to ignore polite requests about the fault. Hmmmm

I couldn't agree more, perhaps he's just spoofing us;) I also understand rail safety is paramount so just tell us the problem.

Think this topic should be locked until we can verify traintechltd is who he says he is.

Busy working from home today...............

Here's what happend

I came up from London where I am working at the moment on the 16:50 from KGX to Yrk.

I got off the train at York which is the first stop, I was on my phone standing on the platform when the train started to depart. As it was passing me I heard that one of the wheelsets on the leading bogie of coach C had bad flats.

As the train was leaving I could not report it to any of the crew, also Grand Central do not have disspatchers on the station.

I spoke to a member of station staff and they sent me to the East Coast reception where I asked if they had a contact number for Grand Central all they had were the normal numbers that are on the web, nothing for reporting faults or depot contacts. It was 19:00 now and the Grand Central office in York is closed.

The guy took the details of the defect and mine and said he would pass it on to the staff on the next Grand Central train that was due into York.

When I got home I spent ages looking on the tint for a contact number and to try and find out where the trains are maintained. Thats when I thought I would try the forums.

Cheers...
