Upminster - Romford sunday service

I was surprised to see a train operating on this line today (Sunday) and even more to see an half hourly service running, but not stopping at Emerson Park. How lomg as a sunday service been running and to be blunt what is the point.

Just for today and other days works take place as today there was engineering work meaning there were no trains Romford to Liverpool Street. Its purpose to allow customers to go to Upminster for c2c and London Underground District line avoiding the need to catch replacement buses to Newbury Park.

Must of been because of the special service operating for the reasons Mojo said.
