Upgrade options for Camden and Holborn

Just seen a link in Iain Visits from a commentator a public presentation for upgrade works for Camden and Holborn stations

Purpose and Need.

They really need to do something with Camden, 32 tph on the northern line would be so much better than today. The current upgrade will add a bit but the extra capacity will soon be filled up!

Not quite clear- does the Camden proposal improve interchange between platforms in the same direction, thus helping the possibility of splitting it permanently into two lines.

Both options will extend the current concourse at Northbound platform level, although I think only Option 2 will add an extra interchange tunnel. They would really need to do that, it is awkward enough changing as it is. When you get off a northbound train and cross over the other northbound branch (or likewise for southbound) you are fighting against the tide of people crossing to the branch you have just left! It would be unmanageable if they did split the line.

In an ideal world they would have two northbound interchange tunnels with an enforced one way system, one tunnel Edgware -> High Barnet only and vice versa. Not sure how that would work in practice though.

For southbound I guess they would have to try and build a tunnel between the two southbound platforms if that is possible.
