Updates and a new sim...

Hi all,

For anyone interested, updates were released on 25th June for the sims covering the North Wales Coast and the Llangollen line.

In addition a new sim was released on the same day for North East Wales and this covers the areas worked by the boxes at Gobowen, Penyfford, Croes Newydd North Fork (Wrexham) and Dee Marsh Junction.

It's a signalling game, made by the people who supply Network Rail with training simulators

Demos are not available, but some are released as freeware/donationware (such as Trent, Saltley, King's Cross, Llangollen, North Wales Coast and Waterloo)

Downloading requires free registration

It is an executable file - no unzipping, just double click. You will need system files though. Follow the instructions on the website and you can't go wrong

Do I need a base game to add Downloads too or can I just pick a download and play?
After purchasing & downloading from 3rd party developer for Train Sim and never managing to work out how to ''unzip'' it play or find it on RW's. I have become wary of downloading stuff that takes a bit of Computer knowledge.

Just pick a download, install then play, only user contributed timetables need to be unzipped which is quite easy to unzip.

When playing the sim press F3 which takes to to the menu where you can change the speed of the clock, how often failures occur ecc. Sims like Kings Cross you might want the clock set to real time, as that can be difficult sim with the amount of trains. Some sims have Automatic Route Setting which you done need to manually set a route except to/from/between ground signals which are flag symbols in the sim.

Timetables are automatically supplied with the sim, but user contributed timetables need to be unzipped & extracted to the sim.

Hi GarethJohn, as DaveHarries says, Simsig is an excellent replication of many of the UK signalling centres. I'm an avid player, there's an excellent forum which you can register onto. You'll find loads of help and tips for playing the numerous sims. If I may suggest, to get into the swing of it, start with some of the sims that are suitable for one player and are just played on one screen without having to change screens or do any scrolling. Lime St, Coventry, Wolverhampton are some of my favourites. Some of the sims are donationware and others you pay a very reasonable set price for. Hope this gives you some additional food for thought.

You will have to download the system files first (conveniently labeled "Download system files first" ).

You need to make an account on their site first (simple enough), then browse through the download section.

If you do need any help, you can post here or fire a PM to one of us!

The only problem i have is extracting Wembley Suburban timetables to the Wembley Suburban sim, as everytime i extract them they fail to load onto the sim & that's despite extracting the timetables to the sims location.:cry:

Go up a directory, then into the Timetables folder, then into the WembleySub folder and put them in there.
