Updated HST diagrams from December 2012

Thanks for the effort involved in putting these together. However, how accurate are they? For XC they seem to disagree with the FGW timetable which now identifies whether a service is Voyager worked or HST worked. Additionally, it doesnt show the Sundays 16:25 ex Plymouth which has traditionally always been an HST and, indeed, was an HST on the 16th December.

Hi there.

The diagrams posted on the website are accurate. They show the booked Long Term Planning (LTP) diagrams, which apply unless engineering work (or commercial alterations!) requires them to be altered. On Sundays in December, 1625 Plymouth - Leeds is not booked to be a HST on an LTP basis.

However, with the amount of engineering work that takes place (mainly at weekends) , there are a number of occasions where these LTP diagrams are overwritten by Short Term Planning (STP) diagrams which take account of the alterations required.

Looking at the system, this happened on 16th December, where 1V50 0900 Leeds - Plymouth (formed, as booked, of a HST) had a planned diversion via Severn Tunnel Junction, and so dropped back into the usual path of the following service. This meant that on that day, 1E63 was altered to be formed of a HST, formed off 1V50, rather than being worked by a Voyager.

Also, if it helps, there are four (internal) timetable periods between December 2012 and May 2013, and there are differences in some of the HST operated services of TOCs in each of these periods (as in previous years.)

Having not seen the FGW publication, I can't directly comment, however from what you've said, it may not reflect all the differences which apply to XC from period to period?

In addition - if you're looking for on-the-day 'STP' HST diagrams, a good place to look is www.hstgen.co.uk - this often has the actual HST allocations posted for an individual day.
