Updated HST diagrams from December 2011 for all five passenger TOCs are now available from the following link. This link also enables anyone with an interest in the HST to become a member of the 125 Group, at £15 for a year, by selecting the 'Join Us' option:

I wish I'd known about the downgrading of the 06:32 Dundee > Plymouth from HST to cattle class when I'd booked for my journey from Leeds to Cheltenham last week. I was standing on Leeds station smugly smiling at passengers on a northbound Vomiter, only to have the horrible empty feeling of being bowled a few minutes later when a rancid rolled in.

On an unrelated note, if anyone is changing trains at Cheltenham at lunchtime, the chip shop across the road from the station is experimenting with a new line of scotch eggs. They look home made and are massive, about the size of a cricket ball, and look absolutely delicious coming out of the fryer. Unfortunately I'd already ordered and received my grub before I spotted this.

Probably worth also mentioning that if anyone is looking for 'on the day' HST allocations to ensure that a particular service is operating/has operated with a HST as booked, or has any technical questions they've always wanted to know the answer to with regard to HSTs, the following site is useful:

Update to the AXC diagrams - from next Friday, for the next 6 weeks, 1V64 1308 EDB - PLY (and associated weekend diagram) is booked for a Voyager due to an engineering block west of Exeter.

The set sits spare on EC instead.

Had a feeling that was happening as when I did the FGW diverts a couple of sundays back, I was rather pleased with myself thinking that I could do an FGW HST to Totnes for an XC one back to Exeter.... needless to say it was a voyager!

To avoid being bowled by a Voyager again in the future, it might be worth checking www.hstgen.co.uk as on-the-day HST allocations are often posted.

There is also usually a mention on there of any interesting diverts that are coming up.
