To have it suggested that asking for membership payments to the group is wrong
It is when you have no constitution defining where and what member's money can be spent on.
We have been accused of having not credible activity, nothing to show for it
You don't.
We asked for a constitution and mission statement, and you said you didn't have it.
let me ask you how many preservation groups in uk dont, several i imagine
Go on then, find one.
before we go fully public in the rail press,
And pigs can fly...
all of which have been very negative and in some cases most alarming.
If you can't take negative comments, then the group would never survive.
do you know of other groups in any area of life that dont ask for membership fees,
Yeah, but they have constitutions, elected chairmans, bank accounts etc.
that dont have any facts to hand.
But you don't either! You have no consitution, no mission statement, no elected governing board.

Readers of this forum will no doubt have read with interest the comments directed at our new group, all of which have been very negative and in some cases most alarming. We resent the fact that we have been put on trial as it were, someone even accused us of being scammers which we find most disgusting. We have been accused of having not credible activity, nothing to show for it,well we can tell you all that not one of the critics have even bothered to email us to ask for details so how can judgements be made against us.To be told that having no web presence means we are not serious is amazing, let me ask you how many preservation groups in uk dont, several i imagine. We have been asked to prove things that frankly are not relevent at the start up stage. To have it suggested that asking for membership payments to the group is wrong is frankly amazing, let us ask you, do you know of other groups in any area of life that dont ask for membership fees, maybe someone can tell us how we would fund even basic operations of the club.
We only came on this forum to spread the word of our existance before we go
fully public in the rail press, whilst we didnt expect masses of support we didnt expect this amount of hostility or accusations directed at us by people that dont have any facts to hand.
We have decided that we will not respond to anymore comments on the forum. If anyone is genuinely interested you can email us direct.

I posted in the other thread that I had emailed you. To say that nobody has contacted you is enough of a lie on your part to discredit you. You deserve nothing more than you got on this forum. I also notice you haven't posted anywhere else on the internet about your group and therefore cannot be taken seriously. If I get a reply detailing your aims rather than the sniping I expect to receive then I may change my mind. However I see that as being as likely as seeing your group in any other medium.

Nobody in the thread has mentioned scamming, the fact that you mention it when nobody else did would seem to indicate you have it in mind.

I have in the meantime received a reply to my email which proves quite illuminating

Dear Sir.
I think i am right in assuming you would be the person on the rail forum known as bluebottle, frankly we find all the negative and hostile comments about us upsetting,i think someone even mentioned we were scammers. That is an insult. We are being asked to prove things that any new group doesnt have at its start up.
We will gladly answer sensible questions but will not tolerate being treated as crimminals for starting a bold idea.
I can tell you now that not one of the people posting negative comments about us has even bothered to email.Y ou have only done so to discredit us even more,we noted you posted comments about us not responding.

Scammers again, he's getting carried away with his imagination. Now, the only way he's going to know who I am seeing as my email simply said "Please tell me about your group" must be that I'm the only person who emailed him. As he replied to it, it does give the lie to his statement that nobody here contacted him. I did and got no further than I would expect. I've blocked him from sending me anything more.

Wrong again, I said I'd like to know where you got that idea. You did not challenge me to anything. I have printed your email in full.

Beleve me Withered Arm, this is for the best. The criticism you have received on here has been scornful and scathing but every criticism has been backed with reason, which you could refute with evidence. Other posters here will have been to AGMs a lot more hostile that this - it is better that you endure this now than later in a public meeting where I fear the derision would be harder to take. In the West country there are existing projects desperate for volunteers and support -Okehampton, Torrington and Bideford spring to mind. Why not join with one of them and help to make their existing but struggling concerns a success?

I contacted them for details of the group, and got a reply!
We have just seen the comments you have placed on the forum, frankly we want no more to do with people like you

Oh yes, this is polite compared to some of the things that happen.
