I was just looking on RTT casually at my local station and noticed that the late night train (departing 22:26) from Pembroke Dock is formed of 150236 153323 and 153910, the service is also only going as far as Whitland and not to Carmarthen.
I have 2 questions, why the 4 car service so late in evening and are there any engineering works in carmarthen station on the tracks?

Looks like there was some engineering works around Carmarthen last night with trains having to stable elsewhere either Swansea, Whitland (150236, 153323 & 910) or Haverfordwest (175103).

The 153's came off 1Z52 from Swansea (originally starting at Manchester as 1V52) at 2117 to join with the 150. This morning the units worked a empty stock move to Carmarthen before the 150 split going to Manchester and the 153's returned to Whitland for a Tenby service. So by joining the units you are probably saving another empty stock move which will require another driver.

ah that all makes sense thanks the working to tenby is due to engineering works. they are replacing track and sleepers ive heard (between Tenby and Pembroke dock). any ideas what the work in carmarthen was for
