Don't know if this is unusual but on Monday saw a class 170 between Stourbridge and Kidderminster as a service train also a 153 and 172 working in multiple

Good few years ago I saw a 158 running a Hexham - Middlesbrough service, boarded at Seaton Carew!

Had a CrossCountry 170 on a Manchester service once, formed of 170519 and 170520!!

Probably at about the same time there were two 158s in non-Northern liveries, one was on the MetroCentre - Morpeth train.

Since the timetable change that is perfectly normal. There is one diagram using 170/6+153, one as 2x170/6 (starts as 07:35 WOS-DDG); and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 172+153 diagram all on the Snow Hill lines.

Thanks for the info - I drive the route quite a bit and the first time I had seen them, this was in the morning BTW

Probably not that unusual but noticed a class 444 and class 450 coupled today, heading towards Weymouth, with the 450 at the London end

There are a few diagrams that do this. The 450 comes off at Bournemouth.

Indeed! the Voyager failed at Brum so the two 170/5s did a short working with a 1Zxx headcode.

Today at Tyseley waiting for 60163 Tornado and London Midland Class 170/6, 170633 passed Tyseley heading to Dorridge and then returned on the 1503 to Worcester, rode on it to Moor Street, got off and filmed it departing Moor Street

Classes 313, 317, 319, 321 and 365 all have Tightlock couplings and thus can work with each other.

I know a Class 365 service failed this month and the next service operated by a Class 317 assisted it into Kings Cross so yes they can operate in passenger service however I do believe that in the case of a Class 313 being dragged by a Class 317 for example the consist is restricted to 75mph.

The only stock that FCC has which isn't able to couple to the rest of the fleet are the 377s.

Not really the same thing, but I saw a SWT Cl 455 at the Selhurst Depot a while back - was there for a while.

Many years a go Class 20's worked the Matlock branch in Derbyshire! And back in the early 90's I travelled back to Derbyshire for the weekend behind a class 37!

In 1985 to 1986 there were numerous MGR workings between the Scottish coalfields and Fiddlers Ferry, which were routed over Shap - although mainly hauled by conventional loco classes for MGR traffic (pairs of 20s, pairs of 37, single 56s etc) some of the loco combinations I saw included 25 + 56, 47 + 20 + 20 and 81 + 47, in all cases all locos were working.
