What if you do it the other way round though, already have the C+E and then do the D, would you get D+E for free? I know the DVLA can be ****y like that.

I'm not sure, but presumably you do. It certainly bumps up the B to B+E.
Interestingly, my HGV instructor was saying that if I do the D in an auto and only get the auto entitlement for it, then going on and doing the C+E in a manual will change the D to a full manual one as well.

As for the girl you want to ask out, I know this sounds like the sillyest thing in the world but...... Just go for it, to be honest mate the worst she can do is say no. but just keep telling yourself that everything will go smoothly, keep telling yourself that you can do it and the confidence will come. i wish you the very best of luck with that my friend.

As for my unusual ambitions,

I would like to fly a lancaster one day (not very likely)

make my own movie (got a story in mind but just a case of conviceing my friends to act in it, and find a heritige railway that will let me borrow a signal box)

release an album (my mate and I are working on some heavy metal parodies of christmas songs to try and release in the next few years (look out for Safehouse Suicide in your local HMV))

Finally for now, meet some of the people from this forum, people I have come to like and respect online and would most likely be even more facinating to talk to in the flesh.

Considering the contents of this thread, I have begun thinking about things I really want to do in my life. Ever since I was at high school I have had a list of five natural phenomena that I would give almost anything to experience/witness, of which I have managed only one - to see a comet. (I managed this aged only 7.) But of the five, it is the least important

In addition to seeing a comet, I would also love to experience/witness each of the following:

• Seeing the aurora
• Seeing a volcano erupt
• Seeing a tornado
• Experiencing an earthquake

Of these, unfortunate timing on my part cost me a chance to see two tornadoes (the wider South Essex area had two in the first 12 months after I left home), and to make matters worse I fell asleep literally 20 minutes before the earthquake that hit the Lincoln area a few years ago, which was apparently felt in Southend! :cry: And of course, there is the potential aurora sighting at the minute - when the area is bathed in cloud. (And then it's dependent on it even being viewable this far south.)

Anyhow, anyone else want to go? (Or laugh at me?)

I believe the "Market Rasen" earthquake was actually centered on the village of Ludford, famous for its "Fanny Hands Lane".

I remember that night, it woke me up despite me living 40 miles away. I then flicked between Sky News and BBC 24 to see who got it first, and I think Sky won by a few minutes.

PS have experienced two (small) earthquakes here in England, but none of the other things mentioned, though I have seen Vesuvius.

I have also experienced an earthquake or two, though I didn't realise until after that I had. The one I recall was when in halls and everything creaked (mainly the window) for a brief moment. I put it down to it having maybe turned window along with a slightly creaky building anyway but then found out what it actually was!

I have to say, I would have agreed with Emma Watson, but since she changed her hairstyle, unfortunately I'm quite so bothered.

For the most singularly unlikely, I'd like to have enough money to charter a modified Concorde and try to get round the world in less than 24 hours while carrying passengers (including two very lucky readers of whatever newspaper I've conned into sponsoring it).

Try joining the Guide Dogs Adventure Group; my wife used to be a member and as a result both myself and her ( she is partly sighted; members could bring a guest... ) have driven the Sir Nigel Gresley...

You don't have to be a dog owner; you only need to be registered blind or partly sighted and you can join the adventure group. It's called Guide Dogs Adventure Group because it's run by the Guide Dogs Association.
