Uno gets new Citaro Euro VI demonstrator

I can't imagine Uno will go off and buy a load of these, but I'm sure we've all blagged a vehicle for a test drive before...

I saw this out and about a week or so ago, but managed to get a video yesterday. The bus looks stunning, and the white LED boards are significantly easier to read (in reality - they don't look great on film, as they're too bright).

I wonder if they've been able to get one of these because of their TfL contract? As in they can now act a lot bigger and appear more serious than they'd have managed before.

I wonder have they managed to get white LEDs working reliably? They do seem to wear out rather more easily than amber.

I like the multicolour displays used by Lothian. The newer buses seem to have been able to replicate all the good things about their traditional large-format roller blinds but electronically. Colour codes for things like part-route look very professional and show the information very clearly.

LEDs are improving rapidly. Greater efficiency means that overheating which speeds early death for LEDs is less likely. There are now high volume applications for brighter white lEDs such as car lighting and streetlighting. Given the amount of time that the LEDs are illuminated in those roles, their life would have been underwritten for them to be adopted.

I'd guess the answer to your question is, probably, 'yes, it helps anyway' but, on the other hand, if the manufacturer had read all your posts on here about UNO they mightn't have been so keen.

Its a 2013 plate I think. It moves around rarely staying in one company for more than a few weeks
