Silly question but when passing Wimbledon train care depot today (around 17:10), behind the ex-southern 456, there was a SWT painted unit, which appears not to be one of their usual sets (painted like the 444s).

Is this one of the old 460s which is getting merged into the 458s?

Possibly if it's a blue train. 458/5s are at Wimbledon

Probably a 4580xx if it was white. If blue with all yellow front it would be a 4585xx rebuilt from. 460.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.

I passed Wimbledon an hour or two before you..yes - there's a new 458/5 parked next to the shed just along from the 456 you've described.

I think it's been there for a while now, I've made several journeys past Wimbledon lately and a 458/5 has been beside a Southern-liveried 456 on each of them.

If it's the 458/5 then I'm confused to how it's painted like the 444s, as the OP says. :-?

Remove the brackets and it makes sense; "not... painted like the 444s".

I will look again the next time I pass Wimbledon in the daylight, hopefully it won't be blocked off by other sets

I passed it a few minutes ago, it happened to be parked under some lighting and with interior lights on, and I'm 99.99% sure it is indeed a 458/5. The blue paintwork was very shiny and the seating layout was 2+2 with the seats still being covered in protective wrapping :)

Last night it was a 458/5 parked behind the 456, with a white 458 behind that.
