Morning,

Apologies if something similar has been made before; I couldn't come across anything in the search box.

I was just thinking of certain units that are unique among their class, for example, whether they have a different seating arrangement, whether they have different coloured panels, etc?

Here's a few examples:

Arriva Trains Wales:
142073: Carries the name Myfanwy - not sure if it still does - I know 142080's Crimestoppers plaque has been removed (seen here).
142081: No black frame around destination box, makes blind look huge! (as seen here).
143606: Only three instead of six folding seats for disabled users/bikes/prams, one side of each carriage has seats going right to the front door - very distinctive and unusual indeed!
143609: Carries the name Sir Tom Jones on a black plaque (as seen here).
150208: Unusual white panel on one corner, not sure if this is due to accident repairs or something? (as seen here).
150217: Large dent in the corner (I believe Northern's 150203 has the same) (as seen here).
150229: On one cab end the fleet numbers are a lot lower than can be found on other units and also one of it's '2's is in a different font to the rest of the numbers (as seen here).
150245: Different style door buttons - blue squares instead of yellow circles
150250: Not sure whether it still does but it had a misty destination blind at one end, making it very hard to see where the train was going! (as seen here).
150252: Has very distinctive white Welsh Assembly Government stickers, which have since now faded, at the first and last set of doors on both sides, now they're just white squares but they are incredibly unique and easy to tell which unit passes you (seen here).
153362: Carries the name Dylan Thomas on a black plaque (seen here).
153367: Just had a fresh coat of new livery, looks very much like the old Arriva Trains Northern livery! (seen here).
175004: Minor smudge at one end of unit (as seen here).
175008: Very subtle, but at one end of the unit the '8' is partly missing! (the 1 also is actually) (as seen here).
175105: Very long, stretched fleet numbers at each end of unit (as seen here).

First Great Western:
150233: At one end of carriage (I think 52233 end), there is one table missing
153329: In new livery, with very large FGW logos! (as seen here in a comparison with 153368).
158798: The only genuine three-car 158 in the fleet (one can see here that there is no former cab in the middle, as with the current modified 158/9's).
43148/43186: HP-liveried Power Cars (43186 of course being the ex-Jubilee Power Car) 43148/43186/43186 in Jubilee days.

CrossCountry:
220016: Still had red bumpers from it's Virgin Trains days, not sure if this is still the case now, they may have been painted (seen here).
220021: Still had a Virgin door (black and white stripes) on one carriage, again think this has been corrected now (as seen here).
221141: The only 4-car 221 with CrossCountry (as seen here).

Virgin Trains:
221144: Now formed of just two coaches, due to other stock being added to 221142 and 221143 (as seen here - shame it couldn't work in just two coaches!)

Does anyone else have any contributions they've noticed around their area?

158798 is the only 158 still in its original formation and with its original number, SWTs 159/1s are still in original formation but have been renumbered.

220016 had replacement corners fitted after minor accident damage, it was more important to get the train back into service quickly than paint them (they are actually vinyled anyway)

220021 had a defective door replaced, again the train was needed back in service asap so it wasnt vinyled up, this happens quite often and I have seen several over the years.

317513 has a missing pair of seats in the pantograph coach.

To add to the ATW list, 150282 has an old steam-era depot sticker on one end. Also, 142010 has seats with newer moquette in one coach, but older moquette in the other one. Mind you, I think 006 might be like that as well, so maybe not unique!

Another one I've just remembered is Northern's 150144. In one coach it features seats in groups of four and six like the other ex-FNW 150/1s, but in the other coach the seats are mostly face-to-back like the ex-FNW 150/2s.

455 5918 has deeper vestibule windows than the others.
455 5920 has deeper windows in all the doors.

Some 317s have shallower door windows.

the 317s were built immediately after the 455s.

A few of the Northern 142s have had broken seats removed and not replaced. There's definitely at least 1 bus bench 142 and 1 Merseytravel 142 where that has happened. I'm not sure on the unit numbers though.

Norrhern 156482. It has the richmond seating and the Northern-coloured seat covers. The other examples with Richmond seating have the ex-ATN moquette.

Northern's 144001 is named 'The Penistone Line Partnership'. I don't think any other Northern pacer carries a name.

As for 221144, seeing that photo of the 2 driving cars at Crewe had me picturing it shuttling back and forth along the Butetown!

There are lots of 158s still in original formation and with their original number.

Can't remember which ones but one Pendolino and one Voyager carry liveries of Alstom and Bombardier respectively.

67014 in the silver livery had or maybe still has an old EWS livery false window plate.

67013 I believe has a Welsh flag on the front

67015 I think has a Scottish flag on the front

I will look at some of the trains I drive and report back - Good post by the way

There is an ATW class 150 with different interior colouring - I don't do numbers so don't know what one it is. I think the livery inside is maybe Northern

Now you guys might be able to answer me this. I'm a regular user of 365's and I noticed once when watching one leave that there is a short section of longitudinal seating. I think it may have been under the pantograph. I always look out for it, but haven't seen it for ages. I thought it might be something to do with the original SE ones having it maybe and the GN ones not. Either way, I saw 365503 (I'm fairly certain it was 03) and saw the seats. Whats the story? I use them regularly enough so if it was a number of them with the seating I'm sure I would have noticed it. Has this unit escaped a refurb when all others had one? Or something similar? Any help with explaining is appreciated :)

On LM's 153334, someone has decided to take the **** by adding an 'IS Inverness' depot sticker to the front of the No. 1 end.

From the top of my head

321416 & 426 having brighter interior lights having been hired in by the Eastern Region.
321425 having the air con circles inside

67027 has one of her 'Rising Star' nameplates at the No1 end on the A side

87018 having one white window and one white buffer

Ah, I've got a feeling that that may have been done by / for one of the LM Snow Hill Drivers (think his name was Ian?) who transferred around the time of the 150s to a ScotRail depot - Possibly Inverness.

Of course I also forgot about our two local Oddballs - 150s 001 & 002. Both ex British Rail Prototype units, the only Class 150s built as 3 car with air operated sliding cab doors (as per the /2s), Both with short range fuel tanks - now being corrected to standardised 150s, both retain various oddball forms of leftovers from their prototype days - 002 Still has the 'Sharks Fin' vents on the driving vehicles with air con ducts in one of the ceilings of the cars and both operate (roughly!) out of the soon to be ex Reading Turbo Depot.

(001 Was seen inhabiting the new depot again last weekend!)

I can now ID Freightliner 66's by rust patches, favourite being 548 that has a patch that looks like a duck on the front.

558 has unusually large font numbers on the front.

527 has tiny cab numbers on one end

522 is obviously the Shanks loco but has completely messed up front font.
