Uniforms at interviews

Can anyone help? If you have an interview for an interval vacancy are you supposed to wear your own smart clothes or your uniform, as I've heard both?

In my experience...it depends!
If it's on a rest day, I wear my own suit. If I'm on shift, or have been or are due on shift, then I wear uniform, I don't take a change of clothes.

My trainer today planned to attend an internal job interview, (for his managers' position), and planned to change into his own suit.

My advice after toooo many years of interviews and being an interviewer, is wear smart civvies. It looks more 'professional'. Unless it is clear in th notice of the appointment that you are supposed to still be in uniform as being in company time.

That depends how big you are.

I always go in uniform and it's a good thing I did last time as well as I got nabbed by my manager who was on the interview panel asking if I could do some overtime seeing as I had been booked 6am to 2pm meaning I had 4 hrs overtime available as we're restricted to 12 hours working and must have 12 hours rest.

Always take this time to also have a chat with other colleagues there and find out the latest gen on FCC empire building,

Still, I suppose it's up to the individual...

I've been told it depends entirely what sort of position your going for...

Say, you were applying for a job answering the phones - obviously your own smart clothes is good

If it was for say Customers, who may come and speak to you in person etc - shirt and tie, black trousers

And then managerial/higher up jobs are good ways to go for suit wearing

Just what i've been told and heard from different people really!!
