The original recordings were made before the new XC franchise started so at the time of recording the routes were Virgin Trains services and didn't go to Bristol. "Bristol Temple Meads", "CrossCountry", "East Midlands Trains", "Buckshaw Parkway" etc. have all been added in to the system at a later date and it's very obvious. There's also some places the woman probably wasn't sure on the pronouncation and mumbled a bit - Lostock Gralam is one.

When you hear the 'unattended items may be removed or destroyed without warning' one you must report any unattended Pacer train at the station.

This also happened with the Norwich-Liverpool trains when Liverpool South Parkway was added as a stop. Not only were the words "Liverpool South Parkway" much louder, they were in a totally different voice.

When I used to hear the announcement at Sheffield I had this mental image of the announcer sat at her desk reciting the stops only for her supervisor to peer over her shoulder and bellow "LIVERPOOL SOUTH PARKWAY!" into the microphone at the top of her voice!

I think the most unhelpful one lately is

"Hello folks! This is the mayor of London ... if you thought the Northern Line was bad now, just wait until next week!"

[may have made some of that up]

"This is the Mayor of London .......... I love the sound of my own voice (especially when it is blared down the loudspeakers at 300 decibels, as it was on Monday morning) ......"
