If I buy a single ticket from Peterborough to a particular tube station in London, it comes up as Peterborough to Zones U1. Does that serve as a travelcard within zone 1 of the underground? Or is it simply a single journey from Kings Cross to the tube station I type into the search engine? Thanks

A ticket to U1 gets you a single Tube journey from Kings Cross to a Tube station of your choice.

In most cases if you're returning the same day a Travelcard will be a similar price or cheaper.

In this case, a Day Return, Off Peak ticket to "U1" is £34.00 and a Travelcard (covering Zones 1-6) is £31.80. During the peak it's £100.00 / £100.50.

It's a single journey. Travelcards would show as 'Rxxxx'. In this instance, it would be R1256, covering all zones.

If you want a Travelcard you'll need to set your destination as "LONDON ZONES 1-6" (or just type 0035).
