There are plenty of options on ticket machines I use that don't work, because there are no fares loaded.

I had a similar problem with some sites not showing all underground tickets.
Try the East Coast site.

This ticket is valid by rail from Maidenhead to Ealing Broadway, then by Underground to any station in Zone 2 or Zone 3 by any route which does not involve passing through any other Zone.

This limits potential destinations to Central Line stations Ealing Broadway to Notting Hill Gate / Hanger Lane, District Line stations to Earls Court / Wimbledon / Kew Gardens / Kensington Olympia and Piccadilly Line stations to Northfields / Park Royal. "Circle" Line stations Hammersmith to Royal Oak can also be reached by walking between the two Shepherds Bush stations.

I am not aware of any website currently selling tickets between MAIDENHEAD (MAI) and ZONE U23* LONDN (0797).

And you must travel via Ealing Common/West Acton, apparently.

That ticket will not be sold online as both online ticketing systems will not sell a ticket for a journey to or from anywhere that isn't a specifically named station. You can key the NLC into a WebTIS site and it'll resolve to the correct location, but it'll say "no fares found for this journey" or somesuch.

The idea is to buy a ticket for Zones Ux-x routed Ealing Common/West Acton. I sold a similar ticket in the reverse direction the other day, Zone U1 to Maidenhead which was not valid via London Terminals.

these are actually very sensible tickets because the fare is the same as if you buy a maidenhead to ealing broadway paper ticket and then transfer to oyster pay as you go for the tube part. it saves the hassle of remembering to touch in and out. shame they can't be bought online.

the drawback is if you decide to do further pay as you go journeys that day - then the paper ticket part doesn't qualify for oyster daily price capping
