Under 33 minutes MK/Euston not in a Pendolino

So on Sunday night I caught the late running Crewe to London 12 car class 350 train between MK and London.

I don't recall the trip ever being quite this quick. 32 minutes 40 seconds to be precise! Quicker even than any trip I remember in a Pendolino.

Aren't Pendos timed for 30 minutes + allowances?

The LNR that stopped Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard certainly did MK-Euston in less than 40 minutes, including 2 stops and the crossing move at Ledburn Junction.

32 mins inclusive of 2 seperate mins of engineering allowances on the ex-Manchester which calls. (390 timings)

34 mins inclusive of 2 seperate mins of engineering allowances on the ex-Liverpool which calls. (80x timings)

Timings are 29.5 and 30.5 respectively in the other direction, with no allowances.

With a clear run on the fasts, a 350 should be able enough to come close to the net 80x schedule (34 WTT schedule - 2 mins allowances = 32 mins net). 32m 40s seems quite decent - a 90.8mph average.

If the fasts are the pair in use the 2230 does sometimes make MKC in around half an hour, then sit there for half an hour. Depends on the punctuality of the WMT it's following and whether any section remains in 4-track use, and whether the signaller has the sense to use platform 5 at MKC rather than making it sit just outside for ages - some seem to use it and some don't.
