Arrived at Leeds station to get train to Headingley. It was full and packed and you could not get onto the train. My journey was therefore delayed by 15 mins

Whats Northerns attitude to this. Can you submit a delay repay claim.

What is the forums experience of late as older posts seem to suggest id have no success

Yes, a Delay Repay claim is valid if you could not board the train due to overcrowding (or were instructed not to by staff). You base it on the timetabled time of the train you couldn't board but were there ready for vs. the time you actually arrived.

Guards should be reporting to their control when their services are "full and standing" (or similar), so the Delay Repay office should be able to cross-reference your claim with their staff's reports.

If using the web form it is probably worth selecting the 'my train is not shown' option (even if it is shown) and typing in the exact details of your planned journey and the actual journey. If you do select the train they have a habit of automatically declining it 'as the delay was under 15 minutes' whereas a person actually has to read the text you write in the box and can manually override the system and put the correct amount of compensation in.
