Can you narrow down the year slightly?
Do you remember whether the train was engine plus coaches or a diesel unit?

A quick Google of Brenz(tal)bahn suggests candidates might be a class 218 loco and n-Wagen (open saloons, doors at 1/3 and 2/3 along) , a class 628 dmu, and a (tilting) class 61x dmu.
These were typical for German secondary lines over many years, but are becoming less common as they are not accessible to persons of reduced mobility.
This site might be of interest https://brenzbahn.de/

The traincompany is called Alb-Bodensee Bahn and is a full 100 % daughter of DB. From Wiki: 33 locomotives, 149 dieselunits and 109 personcarriages.
