Any idea how modern European trains manage to have better seats than UK trains of the same age while abiding by the same fire regulations i.e. what materials, etc. they use as opposed to here and why the DfT and other UK operators aren't following suit as much if at all?

Do they though? Only the intercity stock aimed at comfort and built to bigger loading gauge. Some of the regional stock in Europe is pretty uncomfortable, lots of plastic seats and cramped double deckers.

Pretty much every video I see railing against modern UK train seats also praise European train seats of the same age being way more comfortable or point out the latter to debunk the argument that EU fire safety regulations are to blame for uncomfortable seats. *ahem* GWVillager *ahem* Maverick Hunter Daniel *ahem*
