......Also Im arriving after a mid holiday break into Stansted at 1630 on the 18/05 and need to get to Godalming (I know I should have flown into LGW)

Whats the best way of getting from Stansted to Godalming during the evening peak?

Would Stansted Airport-Tottenham Hale-Warren St-Waterloo-Godalming be the quickest?

Changing at Oxford Circus (cross platform) would be far easier than Warren St.

However, NRE says there is no step free access from the London-bound platform to the tube. If that's a problem (with baggage) I would go to Liverpool St then Central Line to Bank for the Waterloo and City, which is the route NRE tends to favour.
Or even a 26 bus direct.

Just discovered I can go from Stansted Airport to Stratford (changing at Tottenham Hale) then on the Jubilee line to Waterloo in about 80 mins.

Might make for a better journey than lugging my bag thru peak hour crowds in central London.

Good to see a trip on the premier line: The Marston Vale ;)

You'll get a better pint on your break in Newcastle in the Bridge Hotel or the Victoria Comet than you will in either of the nearby 'spoons ;) Sadly, you'll be too early for the top beer option, The Split Chimp micropub.

The Centurion on the station does a decent pint and is a very nice building.

The only problem with that is you will have to trek across the whole of Stratford station, your train will come in on platform 11/12, the Jubilee uses platforms 13-15, but they are right on the other side of the station, so you would have to walk under all the Main Line tracks, Central line and up to the concourse for the Jubilee Line. Stratford can also be busy. My advice would be to see what trains are due when you get to Tottenham Hale, or continue into Liverpool Street for the 26 bus.

I'd be tempted to do the Victoria Line from Tottenham Hale to Vauxhall, and head Guildfordwards from there.

OK that's work done for a month.

Saturday I will do some final packing and relax, Sunday morning it's off to the airport for a 10:35 departure, a 8h30m leap up to Ho Chi Minh on Vietnam Airlines.

There I have an 8hr connection before the flight to LHR which leaves at 00:50 Monday morning and gets into LHR at 07:40 after a flight time of 12h50m, I should be knackered by then, so I hope the Picc & Vic are running OK thru to Walthamstow where I am staying for the night.

You could also try doing Heathrow into town on the Piccadilly, heading onwards to Liverpool Street and then get a 315 or 317 to Walthamstow Central.

8 hours at an airport won't be fun, but worth it I'm sure. If you're still up for meeting for a pint in my local Spoons do feel free to drop me a PM. I am however considering going out for the day to do the new extension on Midland Metro's tram line to New Street (if this was indeed going to be on 23rd May)

Might get the HEX to Paddington then across to Liverpool Street on the H&C.
I think my Britrail Pass is valid on HEX?

So far so good, currently on the 1045 Pullman to Swansea, nice meal, shame it's 12 late at the moment, got a 16 min connection at Swansea, there goes my smoke break, hopefully we will lose more time and I can go to the pub for a couple of hours
