For fares from Cardiff to the NW (Crewe etc); your system is sending people westward to Llanelli to use the Heart of Wales Line - which only has 4 very slow trains per day. So, this suggestion, although possible, its unviable for most travellers.
You are missing the point of the website. The aim is show the absolute cheapest possible fare, not to try and decide what is and isn't viable. If you only want realistic options then you are better off using TrainSplit.
The website is also available via https://storage.googleapis.com/faremap.ml/index.html#
It gets so little traffic that I doubt it was an intentional block. Possibly they just block any websites with a free domain name (.ml, .tk, .co.cc, etc).
I struggle to find any Oyster fare to Gatwick that is not cheaper if splitting at East Croydon or somewhere around there in zone 6, like Purley. I imagine the fares within zone 2-6 are subsidised a lot more than those beyond.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
