There does seem to be a dearth of information about maps on this forum. This thread is dedicated to providing information about the UK rail maps that can be found on National Rail's website, here.
There are three: the National Rail Diagram Map, the Network Rail National Rail Network Map, and the Project Mapping National Rail Network Map. Neither of the first two have changed in any way this year.
The Project Mapping map has three versions. A printable version showing the whole network in one uniform (turquoise) colour, a printable version showing TOCs, and a zoomable version showing tram lines and all stations as well as TOCs.
On both versions with TOCs:
-FGW has become GWR, with a colour change to dark green
-Thameslink has changed from dark purple to magenta
-Great Northern has changed from magenta to light blue
-Chiltern has changed from light blue to dark blue
-Scotrail has changed from grey to mid blue
-Hull Trains has changed from dark green to cadet blue
-Northern Rail has changed from dark blue to light purple
-VTEC, VTWC, Merseyrail, EMT, SWT, TPE, ATW, AGA, c2c, TfL Rail, Southeastern, Eurostar, XC, LM, Overground and Caledonian Sleeper remain the same
Other changes that have happened this year (on the TOC maps, and on the zoomable version only unless otherwise shown):
-Borders Rail, with all its intermediate stops, is shown open (on both versions on the map, but on the printable version only Tweedbank and Galashiels are shown)
-SWT is shown operating to Westbury via Yeovil Junction and Castle Cary (on both versions of the map, but on the printable version of the map Bruton is not shown and the Yeovil stops are combined)
-Limited service on VTEC from London to Sunderland via Newcastle (shown as a pecked line on both maps)
-Limited service on Hull Trains from London to Beverley via Hull (shown as a pecked line on both maps)
-Highland Chieftain service on VTEC now shown as limited service north of Stirling only (on both maps)
-Bicester Curve opens and services run as far as Oxford Parkway (also on the printable version, though Islip is not shown)
-Todmorden Curve opens (shown on both maps)
-Apperley Bridge, Cranbrook, Ebbw Vale Town, Newcourt, are shown open
-Kirkstall Forge, Low Moor, Ilkeston, Bermuda Park, Coventry Arena, Kenilworth and Lea Bridge are shown as 'under construction'
-Haxby, Marsh Barton, Warrington West and Worcestershire Parkway are shown as 'proposed'
-New tram lines in Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Edinburgh are shown as open
-Overground takes over Lea Valley Lines
-Caledonian Sleeper becomes separate service
-GWR limited service shown running via Eastleigh (as pecked line on both maps)
On the 'no TOCs' map:
-Todmorden Curve is shown open
-Bicester Curve is shown open to Oxford Parkway
EDIT: I've also found this old map from 2002. It's certainly a lot messier and harder to understand, and all the old TOCs are there.

Major changes since this map was created:
-GNER, Midland Mainline, Central Trains, Virgin CrossCountry, First Scotrail, Wrexham & Shropshire, Silverlink and First Capital Connect are now defunct
-HS1 Phase 2, Airdrie-Drumgelloch, Borders Rail, Ebbw Vale branch, Kettering-Corby-Oakham and Stirling-Alloa have all reopened
-Oldham Loop is now Metrolink
-TPExpress now runs to Scotland (Virgin XC used to provide all the services from Manchester to Scotland)
-SWT no longer runs west of Exeter
-Grand Central now runs to Bradford
-SWT no longer runs to Brighton
-XC no longer runs to Brighton
-XC now runs from Nottingham to Cardiff
-Tonbridge-Redhill is now Southern
-Wolverhampton-Walsall suspended
-Leeds-Nottingham services now run
-VTWC no longer serves Llandudno
-East Coast trains to Lincoln
Also, look at the colours! GNER, c2c and ATW are all dark blue, Grand Central, First Scotrail, FGW and Midland Mainline are all light blue, Northern and Chiltern are grey, Eurostar, Merseyrail and Virgin Crosscountry are peach, and ONE and Southeastern are both pink! TPExpress and VTWC are the only ones that have kept the same colours (and LM, but technically that's still Central Trains and the two aren't exactly the same).
