Its worth noting that Schenker are working on project to replace some of the road haulage into Europe with class 66s running through the tunnel, this will mean that some of the class 66 will come back on the daily workings or be temporarily swapped abroad

Do you mean DiT?

I can't see how this would work, as the Class 66s that would work through into france would be need to be set up to French/European specifications while retraining UK equipment to avoid changing locos. One would of thought using 92s would be a more preferable option considering how many of the class they have lying around. Oh and what the others said I thought diesels (other than the ones used for thunderbird duties) were banned from running in the tunnel? :P

Just had a dig around the net on this, it looks like they are doing some minor conversions to locomotives that can operate anywhere in Europe

Last time I looked Schenker were the main ones doing trial runs, now it looks like they are running services, one I come across is this service to Poland http://www.railjournal.com/index.php/freight/db-schenker-rail-to-expand-london-%E2%80%93-wroclaw-freight-service.html

It is actually class 92 they are running through there and not class 66

Surely you have gotten confused with the electric Class 92?

Judging by recent developments from Electric Traction, 87002 and a few more 86's may well find their way abroad if there's a market for them. The press release already suggest 002 is likely to be exported.

There's 3 87s left preserved in Britain, including 87002 as the only main line operational. I somehow doubt it will be sold by ACLG. A number of 86s are lying about though but your link doesn't work for me.

That may back up his statement, yes they can export 87002 because it there locomotive not yours!
And after its gone, only 87001 and 87035 will be left here but not mainline.
Also expect 86701, 86702 to go abroad
Thanks, Sam

I never specified ACLG would or couldn't... A shame though.

As they already were quite quirky in the UK, I wonder how long the Bulgarians will keep them in service. :s

92034 has been trundling around in service OK - so thats further than 87014 got.

92027 and 92025 reached Sofia a while back and there are various photos of them at Podujane Works - one of which is used in this news article http://www.blitz.bg/news/article/178948 although it doesn't appear they have entered service yet, unless anyone knows better
