As an SNP supporter, I'm bitterly disappointed in these results. Not so much with what has happened in places like Glasgow where "beating the Tories" was always going to be the priority, but more about what happened in places like Aberdeenshire and Na h-Eileanan an Iar, where the SNP should have performed far better than they did. The revival of the almost-dead Lib Dems in Scotland is also worrying, as it points at a potential Labour-Lib Dem government in 2026.
However, at the same time, it's clear that the SNP have simply run out of steam, which is natural for every party that spends so long in power. The failure to move the independence issue forward has been a source of great disappointment, especially as the Tories may well have accepted devo-max with full fiscal devolution in order to shore up their support among English voters who feel that they're robbed by Scotland.
