No-one knows; maybe when the alert level is reduced to 2? Definitely not while we're still at 3, but any further mask discussion is best placed in one of the dedicated mask threads

The death toll has fallen to 15 today - which means a weekend average of 29 which is 20% less than last weekend's 37. So while weekend stats are low, they're not at zero or single digits yet. Let's see what tomorrow brings. I think 3 is the correct level under current circumstances. Definitely still in circulation but decreasing albeit gradually.

It would be useful to know when the people now dying were first diagnosed (and/or first presumed to have caught the virus). Some people will, sadly, be dying months after first catching it, due to nasty complications (eg. from being on a ventilator).

The number dying doesn't closely correspond to how likely one is to catch it in general circulation *today*.

When you say "only a little lower"....its actually 13.5% lower.
Obviously as the figures come down the reductions in overall numbers will be only small, but as a percentage they're running comparable week by week.

The figures I have seen are recording the announced death toll today as only 15, thats the lowest number since March 15th, and the number of new cases today is recorded as 958, again the lowest since March 22nd.
To note that the figures in March were being taken from tests in the odd few thousands, whereas today testing figures are up over 100000 per day. The more tests you do the more cases you'll find?

I heard 15 too, then I heard 20 in England and one in Wales. I'll update my post after the 5PM briefing. The number of cases is at a record relative low as you rightly state.
