Hey guys, can anyone on here help me find out if type 1 diabetics can pass the medical for trainee train driver roles?

My TOC is recruiting trainee drivers and a friend wants to apply but is type 1 and unsure if he will be allowed.

I read ASLEF website and it says current drivers who develop diabetes can continue to drive if its managed well but i can't find anything about TOCs accepting trainee drivers with it.

Which TOC are you on? You're probably better off asking directly.

A TOC will be lenient with a qualified driver if they develop any ailments (to extents) as they've already spent so much money training them up.

Trainee drivers, I'm not so sure?
